Trying to install a maxtor utility disk, after having problems formatting the pc. We are unable to choose boot drive options, due to the keyboard not working, even though it works in the BIOS set up. Has anybody any ideas on how to get the keyboard to respond, so that we can run the disk.

Did you see in BIOS that your keyboard is disabled out of BIOS?
After getting nowhere with this, I decided to buy a new processor and hard drive. Installed it fine, but is very laggy and slow to respond at times. Even though it doesn't need it, I tried to format it, and the same message as before comes up (Dismount Volume).
Any suggestions????

I still say your keyboard is disabled..
You will have to keep looking for the option to enable it.
