I dont wanna lose all my music since i have a new computer.. is there a utility out there to back up my IPOD so i can import all the music i have to a new copy of Itunes
what you can do is if you right click on the music go propitys it tels you were it is stored so you can just copy that folder
1. Plug iPod into new computer, let the drivers install.
2. Tell iTunes on new computer not to sync iPod. This keeps you from losing music.
3. Go to My Computer and open iPod.
4. Make sure you're viewing Hidden files/folders
5. Find a hidden folder called "controls" or something similar
6. Find a folder called "music" or similar.
7. Copy all folders in this folder, they should have all random names that are four characters long.
8. Paste these where you want to keep your music, I recommend the "My Music/iTunes/iTunes Music" folder.
9. Open iTunes
10. Make sure iTunes is set to manage your library before you have it find this "new" music
11. Add this "new" music to iTunes, with the auto manage option it will rename all the files using the id3 tags.
Voila! Your iPod music is now on your new machine without having to d/l any software.
