UV fans/Cables? Cold cathodes?

I'm [slightly] confused about UV fans/Cold Cathodes, etc.

If I get a UV cable/fan...what exactly does it do? If I'm understanding this correctly...it'll "shine" or something but only when there's a Cold Cathode nearby....right?

Are they worth it?

UV Cable and wire means that they will glow under ultraviolet (black) light. Cold cathodes and LED fans light up.

^ I know that, but I mean, what can I get to make the UV cables light up? I thought a Cold Cathode would do that?

What type of...UV emitting device...

A normal cold cathode wont, you would need a UV light.
