VERY annoying "ActiveX Control error"

Just recently this extremely annoying error popped up when I went on a few websites "click here to run an ActiveX control on this webpage!"

Please can somebody tell me how to get rid of it!!!!!!!

Following a lost legal battle, Microsoft has had to add this message as part of a Windows Update patch, namely KB912945. The message affects third party ActiveX controls.

You should be able to safely remove this update, which is an optional software update and not a security one, and IE should revert to its previous state. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/912945 for more info.

An update to that previous post, I believe Microsoft has now included it in a critical update, meaning automatic updates may decide to put it on your machine anyway. Sucks, don't it. Anyway you can read an article on the court decision here.
