very important question about usb2 on laptops

Hi guys I am intending to buy a laptop hp pavilion 2799 special edition, it is a very good laptop but it lacks a sufficient quantity of usb2 ports as it has only two ports and I am in need of at least 3 ports or even more (external hard disk with a 7200 rpm speed ,external soundcard, music keyboard midi controller… ) I am a musician ….so I was thinking of connecting them through a hub but is that will reduce the usb2 speed and bandwidth and will interfere and makes things work slower ? or expanding with a hub will react as it has by default more usb ports ?

Well, I'm not sure about whether it will slow things down with a hub... I'm thinking not. But please correct me here if I am wrong, fellows. I would just get a powered USB hub that plugs into the wall so that you don't draw any power from your computer to use the devices, esp. with a laptop.

ah ok , so if i could understand right... if the hub usb will drawn electrecity from the wall that means it won't make things slower ? so powering the hub from usb port will make it slower ? so if i power on the hub from the wall and i connect to it 4 other usb devices the speed won't get slower comparing if i connect them directly without a hub ?

the powering of a hub from a laptop won't in actually slow it down. just that it draws power from ur laptop which might drain ur battery faster. i didnt even know that there were wall powered usb hubs....u learn something new every day

Please help ...this is the direct question ?

connecting a 4 inputs hub (connected to devices as external tv tuner, external soundcard, external hardisk, mouse) to a usb port of a laptop will be the same as connecting the 4 devices directly to the 4 usb of the laptop ?
