Very interesting review: AMD vs. Intel

In my opinion what's best only really matters to those that need 110% out of their system, the average computer user looks at their wallet first and then what they need to run their current software, which is unlikely to be the latest and greatest. AMD bundles are still cheaper than Intel, so the average user looking to upgrade will still probably turn to AMD. My brother for instance has just done this. His budget was £200 for CPU, Board, Ram and a GFX card. He couldn't afford all that with an Intel based system but with AMD that's gotten him an X2 4800, board, 2 GB ram and an 8600GT which for what he uses his pc for is probably overkill (he's upgrading from a Sempron 2800+, 512MB ram and an old ATI card.) Where he's bought the upgrade from their cheapest Intel bundle without a gfx card is £266 for an E6750 based system.

Wow. E8500/E8400's blow AMD's equivalent processors out the window. I thought AMD had the better ones this series, but clearly not :P

Is there one like this comparing ATI and GeForce?

intel has better performance but you have to pay a little more for it, im not knocking intel but it is a little pricy.

true for most (read: 99.99%) of the people it doesn't really makes a big difference which cpu it is.

although intel is much better at delivering cpu's that have overclocking potential. That's the main reason i bought intel.

I agree. I use my laptop for internet, email, word processing, and casual graphic design. I have a couple of games that I'll play once in a while if I'm bored, but for the most part I'm browsing the web or listening to music. My laptop is more than powerful enough for what I do and I only paid $500 CDN for it, not to mention the included printer/wireless router/1GB USB thumb drive bundle it came with. AMD seems to have a great cost/quality ratio and therefore I tend to lean towards AMD based systems, but that's just me. It sure would be nice to have a quad-core, SLi screamer but the budget doesn't allow for it.
