very low 3DMARK score on a great comp???

i just put togeather a E8400 - 2G DDR2-800MHz CL4 - 4850 an it's 3DMARDo6 score is 8500 on defauld setting whats with that the CPU score was only 1200 i mean my Pentium D gets 1600 an the SM3 was 3000 an thats the same as my dads 3850 whats wrong.
i also have noticed the comp is running a bit slow it's running XP pro SP3
PLZ help quick cos i need to give this computer the the buyer soon
 
that doesnt really make sense, but try running some game benchmarks, if you have crysis that has in game benchmarking
 
Would background tasks interfere? try closing as much as you can, and check what your idling at.
 
ok ill do that in the morning.
my temps are quite hot it idels at like 35 an loads at about 50 i think this should be cooler than this.
 
ok so i ram the test again today an i got 11610 SM2 4737 SM3 5811 CPU 2810 is this more right or is it still low? all settings where defalt @ 1280 x 1024
