is there a program out there to figure out what video card slot I have? cause I want to buy this new GPU but I want to know what slot my motherboard takes.

I have a Geforce 6600 256mb AGP right now, but I dont know if I can support an 8800 GT 512 pci-e or pci-16

thanks

if ur mobo supports AGP im sure it does not have a PCIe x16 slot , so u will have to get a mobo that supports that slot bc the 8800 gt is only PCIe

Most motherboards don't support both AGP and PCI-e, it's one or the other. I'm 99% certain that your board can not support PCI-e.

I dont think your board would have a PCIe X16 slot and AGP.

WELL DAMN you pretty much spelled it out for me..thanks alot!!!!!! I guess I do have PCI express after all. thanks alot guys

cpuz. download, run it and go to the mainboard tab.
I believe that will only show the slot that you are currently using for your video card. Most motherboards only have AGP or PCI-E x16, however if his does have both, it wont show up on CPU-Z.

Any way you can take a picture of the motherboard? Preferably with the current video card removed? If you could, we'd be able to tell you for sure what you have. Just make sure the lighting is good, and that we can see most of the slots.

Also, try turning on the monitor before you turn on your computer. The first screen that pops up should tell you the motherboard's model number. There are exceptions to this, though.

Guys, couldn't he also find that out in the BIOS page?
