I use a cable modem. Also the cable lines are not under ground. We had a lot of snow here in our area,not as much as others,but still we had plenty. It seems as though our machines wifes and mine are crawling today. Is it possible that the snow has anything to do with this.tjis is what she believes. It did happen about a month ago when we had a lot of snow also. Is this a coincidence or a real issue. thanks in advance. I run a compa presario laptop ,1.86 ghz solo processor ,2 gb ram xpmediacenter with newly installed service pack 3.

I'd be contacting my cable company and telling them that this issue began with the snow. They have to at least come out and check the cable running to your house.
Also, did you detach your router from it's power source for at least 10 seconds and then reattach? Your router may need to be reset and this is a simple way of doing it.
