VGA and HDMI ports on a laptop output or input?

So I'm looking at the Gateway® P-7805u and I saw that it had VGA and HDMI ports. I know you can connect an external monitor using those (at least the VGA I think). I was wondering, could you also plug something like and Xbox into the HDMI or VGA ports and use the laptop as a monitor? Do the ports work both ways like that?
