Hi,

wanted to move one of my monitors further out. ITs connected by VGA 1m cable. So bough another 5m same outs. Connected it today and computer detects a generic monitor with lower resolutions than before. Why is that?

How to make it detect and install drivers as with original 1 meter cable? ta blesses Arek

What res are you trying to run?

The loss in VGA makes it difficult to achieve the same data rates at longer distances, similar to any other kind of cabling.

For longer cables you need to look for ones that are better quality than the cheap ones you normally find. For example Tripp-Lite makes a 20-ft VGA monitor cable that is supposed to be good for resoutions up to 2048 X 1536.

Note I would not recommend hooking two cables together because I have found that they sometimes gave problems. Using a single cable gives better results. I have used high quality VGA cables that were over 100 feet long that gave good results.

Why are you so insistent on using a VGA cable. Thats analogue, lower quality and is the worst option. Try HDMI. Your card supports it as I am sure you tv will.

Yes I agree HDMI would be so much easier for you to use. The cables are really cheap and the picture quality isn't half as dependant on the quality of the cable as VGA was.

And they can be used a lot longer that 5 m without degradation.

Hi, got HDMI in post today. Connected. Then only Panasonic screen comes on. Other screen comes on then goes out says 'no signal'. The 3rd screen connecterd via HDMI dont come on at all. ??? well confused. help
