VGA Controller?

On my ASRock mobo, if I install the AGP controller software and attempt to install my graphics drivers my PC crashes and or locks up. Is this software neccessary? I ask this beacause if I go into my Nvidia control pannel, it says that the bus for my 6800GS is PCI, and I have been getting less than what I had expected performance wise in games. If I attempt to install the controller after my VGA software is installed, it says "64 Bit Windows, only install special patch!" and I do not run a 64Bit version of windows.

Sort of an update here.

In my Nvidia control pannel it says that the bus for my card is PCI, and I get below par performance. In my BIOS it is set as AGP but via desktop it states it's PCI. How should I remedy this?
