VGA length restrictions?

Hey guys, need video to go from my desktop to my TV. The length would be about 10-12 feet. Should I be worried about video lose at that length? And that'd be too long for HDMI, right?

This is just for movies, netflix, youtube, etc.
 
Really? Thought it was over ten and then I'd want a powered "amp" between them. Good to know, won't have to have a separate cable for audio.
 
I had no idea you could lose signal strength with a longer cord. Makes sense I guess though.
 
It's an older HDTV so no streaming features on it. HDMI works perfectly, if it doesn't have any signal lose. I mean, I'm not looking for bluray quality.
 
If you have the option to use HDMI, then I would recommend that over VGA-- VGA video on a television invariably looks like crap, whereas HDMI video look just like it does on your monitor.
 
I've had alot of expierence with this, because for work I need to sometimes extend a customers monitor 20-30 feet at times. When you add the length from the cpu to the ceiling along a wall etc. I need to use a 35 or 50ft. cable. At 35 ft. I've been ok all of the time, but when I get a 50ft. cable I run into issues and need to run a signal booster. There about 35.00 at my local comp. store. As for hdmi I agree with what is already posted, up to 50' you shouldn't have an issue. I have one hooked up thru hdmi and I ran a 50' or 65' hdmi (can't remember) with a repeater installed in the cable with no issues.
