VGA to RCA, work in color?

im trying to get my laptop to work on my tv in color.. would this type of cable (VGA to RCA) work in color? i have an S-Video to RCA cable (if thats what you call it) but when i hook it up to my tv, it only works in black and white...any help would be great, thanks
 
Both the mentioned adapter and the S-vid cable will work in full color, not mentioning the overall bad quality either of those cords will produce when used in that manner. The black and white thing is a specific problem, one I encountered when I tried hooking my PC to my TV.. I cannot remember, for the life of me, what I did to overcome the problem.

Yeah I'm a noob. :o
 
oh ok.. hmm i see, well i've read some where that missing a pin on the s-video adapter could be the problem. well all i want to do is watch some movies on the 52" hd lcd tv =p. is that to much to ask? lol
