ecdit: ur cd/dvd/br drive doesnt interact with the video card directly so it wouldnt affect it.

What games are you planning on running? The 4870 is a great card as it is, and it is actually coming way down in price. If you're not going to need the extra boost in performance, there may be no point in shelling out the extra cash for a better card.

If that's all you plan on playing, I wouldn't consider the 4890. I have an 8800GT, comparable to the 3870, and I max out all of those games (maybe not GTA 4, I don't have it :P). Do you live in the US? You can get a 4870 for just $160 now on NewEgg, haven't checked the prices on the 4890 lately, but you shouldn't need to, the 4870 will have no problem with those games.
