Video capture cards

Ok so if I'm getting this right video capture cards basicly let you whatch TV on your computer and pause and rewind realtime like TVo? How do they get the TV signals? Do you conect it to a cable cable?

What are some good ones you guys would recomend under $100 or preferably around $80.

Im not entirely sure but i belive that you are thinking of a TV tuner. A capture card allows you to get the video from an external deviece (vcr, camcorder etc.) and edit it. A TV tuner card allows you to watch TV like you said. I belive that they usually take input from an antenna or cable in the form of coaxial. There are probably some that would take RCA or S-Video, or the HD output (sorry i dont know any thing about high-def.). A lot of these cards come with remotes and i think that some have built in FM radio tuners as well.

Sorry i havent really reviewed enogh of them to give you a suggestion

Yeah, I am, sry. As you can tell I'm clueless about this stuff, or any TV and sound interfaces.
 
u can hook ur cable up to a capture card its pretty sure that they r the same thing as a tv tuner... i just bought one off ebay last night lol but im only using it for hooking up a camcorder to so i got a cheap one but u could hook cable up to it also.mine cost me 20 bucks!:D

acualy i just checked mine and its a capture card and tv tuner lol.so u probily do need a T.V. tuner
