video card and monitor help.

first lets start with the video card. how much better would getting 2 gtx 295 cards be compared to xfx 4870 x2? would it be a huge significant difference? or would the 4870 be enough and save me a ton of money? unless there is a huge difference i dont want to spend that much on video cards.

im also looking at monitors, my price range for a monitor is about $500.00 usd. I want something around 27 inches and so far i have found these 2 im looking at and want some opinions of them and maybe some help finding a monitor if anyone knows a better one.
Hanns·G HG-281DPB Black 27.5

LG W2753V-PF Black 27" 2ms(GTG)

i want something with awesome quality, good for gaming and surfing the net etc. thanks for reading.

Depends if your really into gaming? The 4870 should be okay unless you are really into games it should play everything at very good settings.. (Just my opinion many people are happy with different standards). You can then always get a second card later if your unhappy?

The GTX 295 is a dual GPU card, so two of them will run in Quad SLI,
providing the board will allow it.

In my opinion, most people don't need more than a single, high quality GPU,
like a GTX 285 or a 4890

well i dont play a ton of games but i do play games alot. i usually like to play gta IV, CoD, microsoft flight sim X, battlefield 2 etc. i also wanted to make sure whatever i get will last me quite awhile and give me awesome graphics. i dont want to get a card and have some new game come out that im really interested in and not be able to run in full res etc, im sur that will happen eventually no matter what, im just stuck and cant decide what to do lol. im thinking the 4870 will fit my needs for awhile and just wanted opinions on which way to go.

So then i should be good with just one Gtx 295 if thats the way i wanted to go?

Year that should be good to play those games. I dont know as much about nvidia cards as ati cards but even a single 4890 like said would probabily play them at very high settings maybe max them out as this is the highest performance single ati card? The gtx 295 I presume is similar or maybe better. Just remember the 4890 and similar require at least 200w alone so a very good power supply will be needed.

well i guess if i can afford it when i build a new pc next month i will get a single gtx 295. im currently looking at this one GTX 295 FTW Edition
im not too sure about it due to the lack of reviews online but it looks good. if i cant afford it then this is the other one im looking at. 4870 x2
im not too sure how the monitor will fit into this whole setup. i mean i dont know much about them and i want a 27" but im not sure if the cards would be good running on a screen that big at full res. any advise or opinions anyone?

That EVGA card has a lifetime warranty, and EVGA has the best customer support and support forums.

I wouldn't worry at all about buying that card. :good:

ok so i decided im going to get the gtx 295 card, now that just leaves me to figure out what monitor to get.
imstuck between these 2.

my problem with figuring out which one to get is i want to make sure i get a monitor that is not only good for gaming but also for movies and especially viewing pictures etc. my wife looks at alot of pictures and uploads them from our camera and whatnot and im more interested in gaming so im not too sure what to get. from everything i read it seems the hanns-g is a good value monitor and the lg is a good gaming monitor. i want to make sure we are both happy and i would like a 27 inch or more screen without having to pay more than around $500 usd. so does anyone have any opinions or suggestions for me? i would appreciate some. thanks.
