Video Card doesn't display when inside of case

Hi, I have a very irritating issue.

I recently purchased this new PC Case : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119256&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=6146992&SID=ibjvawqm4v002urt00053

I assembled it properly as it's not my first time... put all the hardware in and the video card would not display anything. All fans are running fine.

At first I thought it was an issue with my video card, so I used a back up one and got the same thing. Decided to disconnect everything, take the motherboard out of the case, and only connect the video card and PSU motherboard cables and IT WORKED outside of the case.

I put it all back in and it worked fine for a few days but now the same thing, no display. Took everything out again, and again outside of the case everything works.

Anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

Thanks.

sounds like a grounding issue.

check to ensure the motherboard or anything isn't touching the case improperly.

Yeah, definitely a grounding issue. Did you use the standoffs between motherboard and case? Are they in the right spots? What exact motherboard do you have?

Yes I used the standoffs and followed the manual just in case I got it them in the right places. I will double check again just to be sure. The motherboard is an ASUS P5Q Pro Turbo

That motherboard requires 9 standoffs unless the case has raised areas acting as standoffs.

I double checked and the manual was no help in terms of where to place them. I tried changing the placement and kept getting the same grounding issue.

I managed to solve the problem by separating the metal part of the case and standoffs with electrical tape. I put the tape over the holes, carefully cut holes in it, and screwed in the standoffs. Now it works no problem!

I assume this shouldn't be an issue?

Thank you guys for all the help, appreciate it.

Do yourself a favor and tear it back apart and do it correctly before you blow the motherboard or other components. Following is an image of your motherboard with locations for standoffs and screws. Only put a standoff where the screw holes are. Remove them if you have them anywhere else. You need 9 standoffs and 9 screws.
