video card for HALFLIFE 2

Hi

I have an old computer and want to buy a new one but have $1500 what do you think i could get for that, the main purpose of this will be to play halflife 2 when it comes out. Whaty graphics card do you recommend because i don;t want to buy a new one every few months
 
$1500 :eek: you can buy a pretty good system with that much money :D

Consider getting a AMD motherboard
512MB
Radeon9600 256mb or even a Radeon 9800 :rolleyes:
Plus all the basic needs eg = (Case, Mouse, Keyboard etc etc) :P
That will definetly run Halflife 2
 
lol talking AUD australian dollars the computers are a bit more expensive here but lets say 1500$ is a dream to spend after today i got 1000$ lol don;t ask what happend to the 500$
 
$1000USD is plenty you can squeeze even a P4C-2.8 system into much less than that and for the remainder, upping the vid card shouldnt be a problem :)
 
so when is half life 2 coming out and have they improved the graphics at all from what we saw last year in that 500mb video clip?
 
Noone really knows for sure when Half Life 2 will be out. The ATI Radeon 9600XT or 9800 Pro are both good cards to run that game...go for the 9800 Pro if you have a bit extra money as the 9600 will probably just have to be upgraded in the near future.
