Video Card for photo/video editing

My dad asked me to build a computer for him for photo/video editing purposes and i'm not sure what card would be the best fit for him. I know much of the speed of video editing comes from the processor but I don't know how high end of a video card he will need. We don't want to spend too much money on it but were not shy to pay extra if it will increase performance. Were trying to stay around a $1400 budget for the tower + components, he already has monitors and everything.

My personal gaming rig has a gtx460 1gb, i'm thinking that might work perfectly for him, so I was thinking of giving him mine and paying the difference between a gtx460 and 480 so I can upgrade mine to a 480. Would a gtx460 be overkill for video editing since it's more build for gaming? Or would he need something like a 480? Assume multiple monitors

The rig im building him is very similar to the one in my sig.

i7 950 (which im going to oc to 3.8-4ghz)
h50/h70
gskill 6gb ram (1600)
asus mobo (same as sig)
etc...etc...

Any thoughts on the video card choice and the setup im building for him?
