Video Card Heat.....

Ok so, I just got my 9800 Gt and installed just fine. Now, before I got this card my x1950 Radeon was running HOT I mean I can put my hand under the card and it felt like the concrete of the floor in Arizona on a mid April Day.

So I installed the 9800 GT and when I installed a program called (That came with the installation Disc) 'EVGA Precision'. I looked at it and it said that my card was running at 49*C

I was scared for my life! How do I control the heat off my card?? This is a VERY BIG concern for me. Over heated card = BAD. I would appreciate it if Someone could help me out here! Thanks again all!

graphics cards tend to run hot.

You should be ok.

If you did want to cool it down the only real option would be better cooling i.e. water

I dont have water cooling, I just have a CPU can, what do I do??? Some of my mates tell me thats hot and gona fry my motherboard!

49ºC isn't bad at all. My card has gone up to 85ºC and it was perfectly fine, no artifacting or anything. I'd say you're fine as long as it doesn't go over like 80ºC constantly.

49C is low! Depending on the card, temps can reach upwards of 80-90C+ and still run fine.

Don't worry about it, my 4870 X2 runs at 50-60C idle and upwards of 80C under load.

Alright then, Thanks OMEGA! Appreciate the help!

Edit: Now my card is at 58*C and rising....

It's cool man! I know you're a closet lover. lol

Just whack up the fan speed with Rivatuner if you want to be extra safe!

LOL, those temperatures are dang fine! My laptop GFX idles at 110C. And trust me, if feels that hot when touched. When it passes 85C I'd start to get a bit worried.
