Video Card Help...

Hello,

Well I had a computer shop guy build my pc and it seems like my pc isn't using my radeon 7970 ,but rather the intel graphics 4000 because when i play the game rage and i set all the stting to the max... the game says my card can not support it. So i benchmarked it in the game... and it said my fraps should be around 25 also when i play company of heroes with the Blitzkrieg mod my fraps are around 30 with the HD stuff should be 60.. ,but the weird thing is that my pc says its using it and my catalyst control center says its using it...

Does anyone know how to fix this?

Thanks,
Eric

Is this a laptop or a desktop?

If it is a laptop, then try the BIOS for locking it to dedicated. If it is desktop, then go into CCC and point the game to the 7970.

What motherboard does this thing have? If you can go into the Bios and set the display to use PEG instead of the onboard graphics that should set you straight.

Well I have a stupid question for you. Is your monitor attached to the onboard video connector or to the video card? That will tell you which card you are using.

actually the guy who built it said he connected it to the intel onboard graphics card at first to run windows because the pc wouldn't start with the radeon one attached. So he then attached the radeon later. I do not know if he disconnected it so how could i check for that and i want my graphics card to run for every game how could i set that up?

Thanks for help
Eric

Its a desktop by the way

Check the back of the pc to see where the cable for the monitor is attached to. If its attached to one the ports on the motherboard I/O plate then its using onboard. If its attached to the video card then its using the video card.

plug the monitor's cable into a set of ports closer to the bottom that are horizontal rather than vertical

my pc guy said it was and when i go to the website and dowload the driver checker it says it has the latest driver also would the bios thing work? could i just tell my pc to not use the intel card permanently so it would be forced to use the other grapics card? or should i take my pc back and ask him if he can fix it.

If the monitor is attached to the actual video card then that is what you are using. Not sure what the issue is here.

Look in device manager and see if it shows the onboard video. It should not be there as in the bios should have it disabled.

As stranglehold as said, look in device manager under display adapters and let us know what it says.

Dont know. All I can say is download the latest driver from AMD. Uninstall the current driver and then reinstall the driver you downloaded.
