Video card help

I am going to install an I/O Magic 8X DVDRW drive and it says that I need a direct x 8.0 compatible sound and graphics card w/ 32mb RAM minimum. According to what I can figure from BIOS and Everest I have a NVidia Vanta 16mb video and sound card. My MOBO is an AMD 756 (does that sound right?).

I'm sure I need a better card but what do I get? I'm not looking to spend a lot, I'm just looking to tweak my older Gateway a little. Thanks!

You could get an ATI Rage 32MB that cost about $50 I think I saw that at comp USA. Not to sure on the price though.

it should work without upgrading your graphics card, it might not support all of the features that come with dx8 but it should work fine

try ebay for a 32mb card if the program dose not work.

That is way to much for one of those.

Okay now I'm a little pi**ed. I just found out that the card I bought isn't compatible w/ windows 2000. It seems only 95/98/NT. Does anybody know of any drivers for it for windows 2000? I can't seem to find one anywhere. Not even Diamonds website. :(

that is one hellava old card, you would have been better off staying with your current one, even though it doesn't have as much memory.
get the latest nvidia drivers for the card as it has a TNT2 core

Yeah, I'm reselling it on ebay. I didn't do thorough enough research before I bought it. My bad, oh well. I'll have to find something else.
