Hello. I am trying to run dual monitors on my desktop. I bought another video card that just came in. I shut the computer down inserted the card. When I plugged everything back together, the computer beeps and will not boot up. Please help!!!

Thanks in advance

Thanks for the quick help. Now I am going to show my ignorance. What is the bridge? I looked over the video card very closely and I didn't see any plug or anything to plug something into it.

There is one integrated into the motherboard. It works fine. I am trying to install a second on in the expansion slots. So I guess 2??

You don't need to worry about a bridge its only for sli or crossfire.
You'll have one in a sense the one you add will turn the onboard one off.
Take the card out and put it back in making sure its seated in corectly.

Ok. I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times make sure that is it seated properly. I am pretty sure that it is seated as good as it can be on this computer. I could be something like its not compatible with the motherboard or something??? Are there any setting that need to be changed before i shutdown and install the card?

also send specs of your motherboard but what you will need to do is disable onboard graphics from the bios and enable the card.

...and all of the sudden things get worse. I seated and reseated a few more times last night and something bad, very bad, happened. Now the only thing that happens is nothing. The power supply makes noise, but nothing else. Does that mean fried motherboard?

Its a refurbed HP Compaq. The mother board has PS4O on it. Will try to get pics soon.

Thanks for all of the help. I contacted the place that I bought the laptop from and they said I could send it in under warranty. Fixes the problem, just cause more computerless time. Thanks again.
