Hey, right now my x850xt is defective...it has artifacts that cant be explained(no overheating) or psu probs, now Best Buy has offered to extend my return or exchange date by 1 month, so now i can either exchange the card for another one (BTW its AGP) or i can ask for all my cash back. Then save up buy a pci-e card, but then ill need a pci-e mobo. What should i do?

I'd say you get another graphics card, cause if i'm recalling this correctly, that's a socket754 cpu right? If that's correct, buying a nother 754 motherboard would leave you with another thing that's sort of out of date. so i'll just get that same graphics card and then a few years down the road, buy new cpu/mb/everything else.

well it depends apon how much money u have
if u dont have alot then exchange it
but if u have a lot ammount to spent then u cant go with buying a new mobo and card (but u would have to deal with all the headaches)
then it u have some money but not enough to buy a new mobo and card then u could go with a better agp card

you can get socket 754 motherboards that have PCI express connectors on them. its worth a look if you can afford it because it'll make upgrading later on less of a chore

Ill have enough money to buy a new card and to buy a new mobo. I just dont know if i should get the 754 or a 939 and upgrade the cpu as well.

That is a tough call, what i'm doing at the moment is saving (once i get a job) and then switching to socket AM2. if i have enough money i'll probably end up going for an FX62 although that will require lots of money.

i expect the release of socket AM2 will cause a drop in price of socket 939

ok, i think ill do that. Also what about directx 10 video cards? when directx10 comes out will our current video cards support it? if not will they become obsolete?
