i recently bought a new video card (diamond stealth x1550 pro 512 mb agp) and when i installed it and turned on my computer, it just constantly beeps and wont boot up. any ideas on whats wrong?

anyone? I also checked to see if the fan on the card was spinning up and it was but it still continues to beep and not boot up...

What are the beeps like? Consult your motherboard manual and it should tell you what the beeps mean, the beeps can mean that your RAM is not seated properly, or your graphics card is not installed properly. The fan spinning on the graphics card is a good sign and you just have to test if the beeping is cause by the graphics card.
Put the card in, if its beeps, take a note of what the beeps sound like, as in was a few short beeps followed by a long one, just the pattern of it.
Now remove the graphics card and power it up, does the same series of beeps come up? If they do, then some is wrong with your graphics card, if its different, then mostly likely its some other component.

well the beeps are all the same and they are continuous... i took the card out and booted it up and nothing beeped, so you think it might be the card itself?

Does the card require a power conector if so make sure its plugged in.
And do you meet the requirments to power the card.
When my buddys 8800 wasn't plugged into the power supply it did that.

If the beeps are all continuous then most likely its the graphics card. Most motherboards have a continuous beep for no graphics, and intermittent ones for RAM. Have you tried the graphics card in another system? Are you sure that its alive?

Google your BIOS manufacturer and look for the beep codes. Make sure you plugged in the 6pin connector and that your PSU is sufficient enough. Continuous beeps in my experience has been a bad/loose GFX. However, these were older and low power consuming cards (no 6pin, and GeForce 5's)
