Video Card Temperatures normal?

Hi all. I have a NVidia 8800GT and when im idle on my desktop (with my external fan blowing as well as the video card fan at 60%) the temperature is about 53C. Is this normal? Im not too knowledgeable about video card temperatures. What is about the max temp it should ever get to? Thanks.

That's not too bad....although it's not great. Do you have a small case? Mine idles at about the same as yours with the fan speed at 52%, but I have a crappy Dell case.

My friend's case lets the 8800GT idle at 42C with stock fan speed settings.

Around 50-60 would be the normal temperature for the 8800GT, I have an 8800GTS (G92) which is very similar with the GT, just with 10 more unified shaders, and it idles at 55.

im at about 55 idle with my 8800 GT.

goes up to like 85 when im gaming lol. cos i havent got the fan speed on auto..

anything up to 120*C should damage a card.

I have heard that the 8800GT runs really hot, maybe that's why it goes all the way up to 85 degrees underload. I think its due to its single slot design as well. The 512MB 8800GTS I have only reach as hight as 70 degrees even when I overclock it underload, it has a double slotted design which exhausts hot air straight out of the case instead of recycling it inside the case like single slot cards. 85 degrees, I think is rather high, my CPU does not even go near that, the hottest its ever been is only 80 degrees and its a Q6600 clocked at 3.4Ghz.
