Video Card Upgrade Help Needed...

Hi everyone. I recently bought adobe after effects and I'd like to upgrade my video card (something I really skimped on when I made my custom computer).

I don't play any video games on my PC, but I'd definitely like some extra power for video processing. If possible, I don't want something that will get too hot. I also need something that wont be too loud, since I do a lot of music on my computer. I can do something for $500 or less. But if there is a real bang for your buck model, which is a little more, I can do it.

My current setup...

AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition Callisto 3.1GHz Socket AM3 80W Dual-Core Processor
12gb ram
windows 7 64bit
ATI Radeon HS 4650 512mb
GIGABYTE GA-MA770T-UD3P Motherboard
OCZ ModXStream Pro 500W Modular High Performance Power Supply

Thanks.

What is your current power supply? That could determine this whole upgrades money spent, id recommend a 560Ti or a 6950 ati card, but you would need a quality (corsair, seasonic or silverstone) power supply of 650W or greater id recommend.

also your setup makes no sense...you have an amd motherboard combined with an intel cpu. you cant combine those two

My power supply is...

I wouldn't mind upgrading my power supply either, if need be.

Maybe I should add this too, I don't want the card to bee too loud. I do a lot of music stuff on my computer.

Thanks.

Oops... fixed it.

probably a 6850 or 560ti would be ok, not sure if a 6950 would be good on that supply, plus you might end up with a bottleneck with the dual core

does he even need anything close to this performance for this stuff, i mean everyone likes to save money especially since a new cpu line is out soon so he could save a little for a bulldozer which would help more than this stuff wouldn't it?

Thanks for the recommendations guys.

What would you recommend?

i was thinking like a the bulldozer 8150 or 20 or whatever that is supposedly like 240 or so, a new os copy since you'd need a new mobo for 100, there's another 200, so that's about 440, and a simple 5670 is about 70 bucks and can get a mir for like 2 or 3 of those to put you back under budget and keep ur current psu too, or even grab a newer mobo running the last gen chipset, the 800 series, which will have an hd4250 which should be fine for this for now, and you don't even really need close to that much, a simple 4100 or something would work, i was just wondering if any of these guys had a clue what that would do for your speeds if you did up to this stuff.

if you're not going to game on the setup then i think you should spend more money on a better CPU since video processing is very much CPU dependent. Just get a low, mid-range GPU.
