video card won't detect dvi port...

ok so i plug in the dvi cable from the monitor to the video card, then i boot the comp, nothing happens..... i turn the monitor on and off, but it says no signal... then i used a vga cable and converted it to dvi cuz that's all my video card accepts, and it works fine.... can anyone help me please? thanks.

the dvi cable might be faulty. or the port on ur monitor <dvi port> might be faulty.
