video card

hello people!
I was just wondering was is the best video card for gaming, like half life 2 or doom3, not to expesive.
at the moment I have an ATI raedon 9550 256mb.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the top ones at the moment are the Nvidia's 7800 and ATI's x850, I believe. As for yours, I think you can still play them at low to mid settings. You can try. :rolleyes:
 
The top ones are GeForce 7800GTX (256MB or 512MB) and the X1800XT (256MB or 512MB). 7800GTX I believe is around 400$, don't know about X1800XT.
 
I thought the GTX was more...? Oh well, you can find the step down, 7800GT, for about $270 if you look pretty hard. Well, that's with some rebates, but it's worth a shot ;)

its actually the 7800 series and x1800 series

IMO, the best ATI card for the price is the x800GTO, and for nVidia the 6800GS.

The most expensive is the 512MB 7800GTX for around $750, and the x1800XT 512MB is around $550.
 
Yeah, I guess I'm a little behind on the desktop end. Been focusing on the upcoming x1600 for notebooks. Counting down the days... :rolleyes:
