video cutting/cropping software?

does anybody know of any good free video cutting/cropping software?

basically i want to cut out a portion at the beginning, and a portion at the end of a video and save the middle part as a video file
 
Many people use XP movie maker,but the one from Vista is very good also.It has some extra features which in the XP movie maker did not exist.

There is also Live windows movie maker,but I never used it.I think it requires Windows 7 or higher.
