Video-DVD software

First of all hi to everyone.

I want to apologise in advance if this is in the wrong forum, but I'm not exactly a "computer expert" and this looked like the right place to me.

Basically I'm looking to buy software/hardware that enables me to put programmes from videos I have, to DVD's I can watch on the laptop and in your average DVD player. I'm assuming this is possible and I can use my laptop to do this. Is there some kind of cable I need as well? Could anyone recommend anything to me, and give me an average price? I'm in the UK, and preferably would like to buy from a shop, although if it's cheaper and better on the internet, then that's fine by me. :)

Yeah, that looks like the kind of thing I'm looking for. :) Thanks for that! Would I need some sort of a cable to go with the software, to link my laptop to my television?
 
All you need is a DVD-Burner, a blank DVD, and that software. If you have a DVD-Burner in your laptop you can use that, otherwise you can buy an external one. And you burn the videos to a DVD, then watch it in any DVD player. No special cables required.
