Video Editing People

For the guys/girls out there what program would you recommend for someone who knows nothing about video editing and wants to do basic stuff for home videos, etc?

just windows movie maker or if your mac then imovie! its simple, easy to use and will do just fine

Yeah, I second that. And if you have Windows Vista, then MovieMaker there has some nice improvements to the extra features like transitions and effects etc... For basic home video stuff you really don't need to spend money - so go with MovieMaker.
