Video Editing Software

Ok so in the many years that I have had Windows Movie Maker on my computer I have only had it actually work for a period of 3 or so months when I first figured out what it was. I loved the program. But it NEVER works right, first it would just crash and I fixed that now it wont import anything and I have tried everything and I mean everything to fix it. So windows movie maker is useless and takes up hard drive space. Its sad because I really liked it. But this is NOT my question. I have given up on wmm.

What I'm asking here is are there any good programs similar to windows movie maker but not insanely expensive? All I want to do edit out commercials from tv that I have recorded. I have read other places that I should get Adobe Premier pro or Sony Vegas BUT they cost like $700! I would only use one aspect of their program. I have nero but the controls aren't good for editing.

The thing I liked about windows movie maker was that you could zoom in on the timeline and pretty much go frame by frame and select the right spot to edit. I have had some success with a hauppage program that came with my tuner card but it gets out of sync when editing.

Thanks for looking!

This is great! So I was talking to one of my old roommates and he told me to try TMPGEnc 4.0 or VideoReDo. I tried to use TMPGEnc but it said I had already used the trial... I think they're just retarded anyways Videoredo works fairly well so far but we will see as I use the 30 day trial...

tmpgen is excellent. Look at Ulead dvd pictureshow. Ive had excellent results with this also. the trial is there but not the same thing. if ya add pictures the timing will be wrong for the trial. but works well with the payed ver.
