I'd like to put together some moving photographs (ie just powerpoint type viewing with them moving in/out etc..) to music and then burn onto cd as xmas gifts for overseas family. What software do I need to do this? I've powerpoint but I don't think I could put the music to it without it becoming a large file.

Please only post the question once... ANd from the sound of it, you'd make a larger file not using powerpoint because videos can take up a good bit of mmeory too, and you really loose the quality. Don't forget, videos run at around 30FPS, powerpoint doesn't work like that...

if you could study swish then it is possible to do that with a low memory capacity.it is fair enough to animate the pictures with sounds.

Try Windows Movie Maker, it's a free download and I used it to make a slide show-type thing with some music in the background. I had some transition effects and such in there, and it worked awesome!!!

No matter what program you use, the music will still add the same amount of memory. Id personally go with The_Other_One's idea of just sticking to powerpoint since it is easy and you already own it. if your overseas family dont have powerpoint, make sure that you go to file / package for CD instead of just saving it then burning the file to disk, as packaging it will include on the disk the Powerpoint Viewer
