here's the thing
i got about 17 short 10 second clips (mpeg) that i would like to combine into 1 longer clip
anyone know any software (hopefully free since i only have this one project) that i could use to do this?

Doesn't Windows Moive Maker come with ME and XP? That should work fine, even though I hate it :P I don't know of any other free programs right off... I used Ulead video studio a while back. Got it for $10 at Best Buy. Got it for sale now with my capture card ;)

although, i know most things xp does come with, even though it's kewl that it comes with it, most of the programs i have tried have sucked...they need to get better software to add

and i'l have to try that mpeg-join thing
looks simple...i hope

Aw, come on tweaker, that's not EDITING! That makes the stuff too easy and too sloppy

To both then, I don't like just sticking things together because you get such sloppy results.

Oh yeah *points to subject*

MPEG Joiner designed to join MPEG files without recompression that allows you to join MPEG files quickly and without reducing quality. But only files with identical parameters (such as frame size, frame rate) can be joined.

TMPGEnc has a neato interface for doing it quite cleanly (amoung a billion other features). I believe CCE also has a similar feature (but then again CCE is markedly more difficult to use)

I didn't mean quality wise. I mean there'd be no transitions no clean cuts, and stuff like that. I'm really picky when it comes to my videos so I don't even think in terms of just splicing stuff together like that :P

Who says there wouldnt be clean cuts? ;) (although its a more than reasonable assumption)
