Ok Fankango, all of the above are crude!
One of the best for DVD authoring is
DVD Lab Pro (NOTE: DVD Lab Pro is just for DVD authoring and is not designed for actual video editing.)
For video the best is
Avid software, though
Avid software is very expensive, for Avid studio HD (witch comes with every thing you would need for 3D animation and advanced video editing) costs $3,495.00

, now keep in mind this is top of the line software, if you watch the credits of Lord of the Rings is states that they used Avid software

and my friend said that they use it in Lucas studios as well.
Now not all of the Avid products are so expensive so you might not want to cancel it out without at least looking at the web site first
I my self use DVD Lab and
Magix Movie Edit Pro 10 it has a lot of options and is rather easy to use! I have Pinnacle Studio v9 (only because I bought a video capture card that included it) and I really don't care for it that much, if I were you I would think twice before I bought that Pinnacle junk.
And another thing you want to remember most all of those video editing saftwares like Magix, Pinnacle, Roxio,........ you will see in best buys and etc..... all claim you can make DVDs with great menus and so fourth, but don't believe them, yes you can make/author DVDs but the options are very limited and most of the time they won't let you do advanced things like having sub titles, multiple audio tracks, custom menu navigation, menu transitions, custom menu buttons, and a lot of other thing (NOTE: all that I have just mentioned you can easily do using DVD Lab Pro)
There’s the scoop, and if you have any more questions then get typing
