I need some good software for editing video and compressing it smaller. When I record now from my camcorder through my tuner it comes out to around 30 megs per minute of video. I've seen videos a lot smaller than that. I need good software that will allow me to drop the size as well as cut up the video
 
Virtual Dub, by a longshot. Although not so much for organizing clips, you have a lot of options to resize your video using any codec you want (including divx/xvid), apply tonnes of filters, cut up your videos, whatever you need.
