Video games 1680x1050 on 26" Wide LCD monitor

If I get a 26" Wide LCD (1920x1200) monitor and play video games at 1680x1050, is it possible to set monitor so that it doesn't stretch the picture or it will stretch it by default to fill the whole screen?

Isnt 1680x1050 the same aspect ratio as 1920x1200?

I wouldnt think it should stretch anything, but most monitors have buttons on them that adjust the position of the screen.
