Video playing goes black

trying to play a video on tinternet and the screen just goes black at start with nothing on apart from in top left there is a little square with three shapes in

triangle square and circle

what does this mean and how do i fix it to play the vid

From what it sounds like you need a plugin for that file. That could mean adobe flash player, quick time, or windows media player. That usually happens when your browser doesn't know what to do with files it doesn't recognise.
