Video Problems

Hello,

I'm having some serious video problems. I've determined it's NOT adware or spyware, as I've rebaselined the computer. The problem is when I'm playing video games it would run absolutely smooth as silk before, now it's very choppy when running those same games. I'm thinking there's a problem with some piece of computer hardware (that's all I can think it might be), the computer's always had problems with over heating, it's an Alienware 51M. Is it the RAM? Is it the video card? If it's the video card how do I replace it? When starting up it still boots quickly, does other applications fast, installs programs fast, just video games are suddenly a problem... Help please!

its very possible that your graphics chip is overheating, you dont state which chip your system has but i'm gonna assume that its fairly high-end.
However, the first thing i would do is update all of your driver, then i would take a look at all of your fan intakes and exhausts and heatsinks to make sure they are not clogged with dust. If there are access hatches to these take the covers off and try to remove any dust carefully, preferably using canned air.

If that doesn't help it would appear that there is an underlying problem with your system that i would consider points to a hardware problem.
