Hi, im new and i need some help with making a video on my computer. I play counter strike (a computer game) and i was wondering if/how i can make a video by recording in some software what is being displayed on the screen of my computer. Any information on how to do this, which program to use etc would be much welcomed. Thank you.

Danny:)

Hi, welcome to the forum. Be sure to introduce yourself in the Official Newcomer Thread. :)

I think the biggest favourite with people here would be Fraps. It's not freeware, but does the job well. You can download a demo and check it out for yourself.

Recording video does slow down gameplay, depending on your pc specs, so you'll have to play around with quality settings of the recorded video. And the video is saved in uncompressed .avi files, meaning sometimes the hard drive can't work hard enough to read the images in time to show the video smoothly. If this is the case, you'll need to convert it to another format like .mpg.

I was hoping more for freeware, and also i was wondering how i could go about editing it to put two clips together and clips from other sources into it aswell. Any ideas?

I don't personally know of any freeware programs that work in the same way as Fraps, perhaps someone else has come across one.

As far as the video editing is concerned, what operating system are you using? Windows Movie Maker would seem the best bet, and it's free.
