Videocard won't output to T.V.

I have a gtx260 and i can't seem to get it to output to my t.v.(Westinghouse TX-42F430S) through vga. I've downloaded every driver i could think of and tried it on every resolution that was listed in the display settings. This is weird to me because my old computer with onboard graphics could output to it so surely my gtx260 should be able to right. If you have any suggestions for me to try or something that i possibly overlooked please let me know
 
Do you have an old monitor or something to test the output. My guess it's it's some setting. I use my Toshiba as a monitor while I'm working on random computers, but it's quite picky about its resolutions. Most of the POST screens don't even show :P Just fiddle around with nvidia's control panel some. I never liked their new system for setting up cards
