View a DVR from a remote location??

I set up a DVR today on a network so I can view it from my Home. I contacted the ISP to make the IP static and so they did. Typed all the correct Info in my router and got the internet working on a Static IP.

So I then connected the DVR to the router through DHCP and Port number 8000. Thing is, I can connect to the DVR on the wireless network, but not through the internet. I have a Program called Network Video Surveillance which I used to view the cameras on the local Network with IP 192.168.1.108. For the Internet connection I'm Using the Static Ip the ISP gave me and did port forwarding for the Specific port of 8000 on the Device.

When i try to connect it says Failed to connect to "<name of device>".

Can any one help regarding this issue?

Thanks in advance

Presumably at the remote (home) end the login software has provision to enter the IP address, port and password? Does that end need port forwarding too? Any indications from your remote (home) firewall?

Make/model of DVR and software?

BTW when you have two connections and mention router and internet access, it's important to say which connection you are talking about.
