Viewing .EML files

Is there a simple way to view .eml files in IE?
I've googled it and found this http://eml.tooutlook.com/ that seems to say that you can change the file from.eml to .mht but can I do this without changing the extension?
Will the format stay the same? I'm not entirely sure of the difference between the two, is it something to do with the header?

You need to change the extension of the file to open it in IE

According to your link that won't change the file format, so once done if you need to you can change it back :)
