viewsonic g tablet wifi signal incorrect

I just bought a new viewsonic g tablet and the wifi signal always shows 1 or 2 bars out of 6 or 7 even when its right next to the router. I know that is not right because it has the same range as my laptop i've tested it. Even on public wifi it only shows 1 or 2 bars of signal.

why would the signal always be so low? and how would i fix it?
 
I did contact the company but i didn't think to add that. The 10 in android tablet does not support the android store and the 3rd party "app store" they put on it has only 1000 apps (no facebook, no netflix) and no sign in or anything. There is no way to get the android market without rooting it and i don't want to do that. I did manage to install the amazon market after a while and that has a good selection of apps. I guess I will just have to wait and see if there is an update, If its working it's working, right?
 
correction- the wifi signal doesn't just show its weak it really is...

one quick fix if you just need a few more feet is to get a piece of aluminum foil and fold into a rectangle and put it behind your router so the signal would be pointing in the direction you need (I was skeptical when I saw this on google but it really worked)
 
You can Google adding a real Android market on there. It's just a quick root you perform and you should get the full market.
 
I thought about rooting it but everyone said the roots didn't work or messed it up. The amazon market has all the apps that do the same thing i'm not worried about it anymore but thanks for the suggestion
