virtual simulator: for drivers install

hi everybody. i am glad you are here

i am going to set up a virtual simulator:
this simulator will perform the actions in real time, just as i would
AS IF I ACTUALLY DID THEM

SIMUALTION OF A DRIVERS INSTALL:
{from a fresh hd, and fresh OS install}

1. fresh hd
2. fresh OS install
3. install service tag drivers

all drivers work?

is this correct?
anybody know?

I'm confused.

Firstly, when you say 'virtual simulator', do you mean something like a 'virtual machine'?

And secondly, why are you doing this?

I assume you want help installing drivers?

i'm glad you showed up. this is awesome.

no, not a virtual machine
what happened was that i asked if somebody, and i mean ANYBODY, knew how to install drivers.
and no one knew.
{i am trying to install drivers on my laptop}

so what i wanted to do here is create a simulator of "what if" would happen if i did such and such -- before i actually did it.
like a simulation of what the results would be IF i used certain techniques.

the result would be the set of steps (in sequential order if significant) that you use to install drivers.

QUESTION
how do you install your drivers?
{step by step, as in 1,2,3}

There is no special technique. You can either run the .EXE installer or manually install the drivers by right clicking the device, choosing update driver, then navigate to the driver folder.

so your saying that it is cut and dry and simple
as easy as 1,2,3

1 install your drivers
2 done
3 computer works properly

i guess the proper question would be to ask, not the HOW of "installation" itself, but rather.....

what "steps" do you go about in the CONFIGURATION process, due to the setting up OF your drivers?

There is no configuration process. You just install the driver and you're done.

You make this all way more confusing than it needs to be.

and yet i can't connect to the internet with the wireless......

and you don't know how to: and its so simple that you can't --
how do you get to the "let windows configure your network setting"?

this is the 3rd Windows install
complete with a format...
{like you said, and wouldn't answer my question until i did}

There's an issue with your link. It's asking me to log into photobucket.

What you need to do is install only the wireless driver; don't install the Intel ProSet software as well.


Extract the wireless driver.
Click Start, then right-click My Computer (or Computer) and click Manage.
In the Computer Management window, on the left, click Device Manager.
Click the + sign in front of the device category for which you wish to install the driver.
Right-click the device, and select Update Driver. The Hardware Update Wizard opens.
For using Windows Update, select No, not this time and click Next.
Select Install from a list or specific location (Advanced), and click Next.
In the window for search and installation options, select Search for the best driver in these locations, and select the Include this location in the search check box.
Click Browse, and navigate to the folder that contains the driver files. Click OK when this folder is selected.
Back in the Hardware Update Wizard, click Next. Windows will search for the driver and install it automatically. When the installation is complete, click Finish.

Yeah, I agree with this.

You just install the drivers. It's usually as simple as running an EXE file, just like you do when you install a piece of software. Or, you may need to unzip the files and install through Device Manager which has been explained above.

And that's it.
