my son who downloads anything with a down load button has downloaded something again only this time something has crashed his computer.

explorer now not working - unable to connect to internet.
also had LAN set up - this has disappeared from his computer.

have seen following error messages on his pc.
svchost.exe....instruction at 0x7564d27e referenced memory at 0x00000060
also
runtime error 216 at 774e1a60

ive googled these and found some advice to run checks on svchost and also to search for virus related to runtime error....

does any one have any suggestions how we can remove these?

would appreciate any comments/suggestions...myself & my wife know a little about computers but this is out of our league...
many thanks

I had the same problem a long time ago and my last option is to reformat my pc. But don't do that, seek an expert advice first. You problem is serious; the virus probably affected the registry of your pc.

Good luck to you.

If you can download files from another computer and transfer them via a usb flash drive then follow the instructions here for downloading and running combofix. After running that, see if you can get back online and then download and run Malwarebytes and hijackthis which you can get instructions here.

So after running all three, please post logs from each program back here so we can go through it to tell you what to do next.

try to restart affected pc in safe mode .. then install avira antiviruse then update it through mannual update option .. ofcourse you have to download update 1st...
then run complet system scan ... carefully see what to do if a viruse is detected ..specially those which are in windows folder
