hi,

my computer keeps playing up on me.
whenever i try to use the right mouse button on the desktop, i always get the timeglass (waiting) thingy instead of the arrow and the little box that comes up with "new folder, etc etc" and the hourglass thingy just stays there for ages and doesnt go away. i cant get into any other programs however the mouse is still movavle on the desktop however i cant click on anything nor even click start to try and restart my computer, i have to just press reset on the box.

It all started about 2 weeks ago when i put it a cd and opened up the window and tried to copy and paste what was on the cd (a video) and paste it to my desktop, however, the hourglass time thing just stays there forever and wont go away.
its gettin bad because the right mouse button in screwing up heaps and its hard without it. and i always have to restart when i press the right mouse button on the desktop or in my computer or something.
i dont ever seem to get this error when in mozilla and surfing the net

is this a virus? i have scanned but found nothing.
cheers

any help will be aprreciated

scbnned with panda

found 79 infected things

but how do i get rid of them?

i am running ad aware as we speak however, its only found about 11 files infected so far.

Could be many possibilities.

That sounds potentially normal to me. I'll transfer huge GB files and it'll stay like that for a good while... however, what doesn't seem normal is that u get it while just cliking on the desktop.

As far as panda, i dont know if you can repair it online or anything.. but you might have to download the tool. Or, even buy it.

Additionally, I think you should also try Spybot Search and Destroy. Lastly, you can also post a hijack this log.

May be a long shot, but I can also see it being your spec wise.. if you have an older pc. But that's a long shot.

ummm, it may be a virus, its hard to tell, but i suggest you Format, it fixes [ALOT[/B] of problems, trust me, ive been there!!

Panda usually finds tracking cookies also, soo some of the things it found may be that. instead of doing a bunch of scans 2get rid of the virus etc., try this, take the computer off the internet, just unplug the ethernet cord from the back of the computer, scan with Ad-Aware and whatever anti-virus program you got, and delete whatever it finds.

What are the infected things? Spyware, trojans? Adaware will pick up quite a bit of the spyware but usually not all,you might try Ewido also. Spybot S&D may catch more but use at your own risk.

AVG is alright considering its free but if virus's are slipping by I'd get something else. Try Nod 32 for the free trial and it'll clean up any thing you'v got on your machine. If you don't want to buy after the trial, download the years trial of CA AV. I'v used both but am using Eset now as its got the best detection rate of any and the smallest footprint.
