Virus or over zealous deletion? What do I do?

After getting tonnes of spam and adware through "click potatoe", I wiped it and a bunch of related stuff off my computer. It hasn't been the same since. I think I might have been a bit over zealous and deleted a drive that I needed.

Can anyone help me out? Do I have a virus? If I deleted something I need how do I get it back?

Many thanks in advance.

I only have open office, I can't seem to save my hijack this log.

Please, don't do anything else on the computer while working with these programs. Perform all the below in normal boot, NOT safe mode.:

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware HERE or HERE and save it to your desktop.

  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to
    o Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    o and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. Please keep updating until it says you have the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • A log will be saved automatically which you can access by clicking on the Logs tab within Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Now, you can generate a HijackThis log by doing the following:

Download the HijackThis installer from HERE

Run the HiJackThis download.

Click Do a system scan and save a logfile

Most of what HijackThis lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

Post the logfile that HijackThis produces along with the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware log and a detailed description of the problems you are experiencing.

You are using "notepad" on a windows OS? Does nothing shows up at all when a log is generated? Or does the text just not save?

Lets try this, run the iExplore file by RIGHT-clicking on the downloaded file and run it as ADMINISTRATOR. If a window opens then closes run the file again, do this until it generates a log (like with notepad, in your case nothing may show. tell me if nothing appears) of processes stopped. and then try HiJackThis again and let me know if a log shows. If iExplore seems to have given you a list and seems as though it was successful in at least giving you an open notepad, then go ahead with running HiJackThis by running it as ADMINISTRATOR.

iExplore.exe

(EDIT) Oh and open Notepad and make sure your fonts, under the format tab, are set to
Font: "Times New Roman"
Font Style: "Regular"
Size: "12"
Script: "Western"
